How did I get rid of social media

Leaning on the bed, knowing I have more important things to do, but I just could not stop scrolling, all the information I am getting from the feeds are basically useless, repetitive, and repeating useless. I knew it’s time to quit.

I know I would be fighting with below –

  • My old habit to reach for the phone, click on the social media icon
  • My boringness
  • The algorithm designed by the smartest minds in the world to pull me back in

Things would not be easy if I would just rely on my mind, which I had to admit, not so strong.

Below are the steps I have been taking to quit social media.

Remove all the social media apps

  1. Eventually, I find I can just use Chrome and login
  2. Clear Chrome history entirely, so I would have to log in again, if I want to use those social media
  3. I was being creative, using remembered password, or auto login and use shortcut from Chrome, just like I would click on any app icon

Change to a different browser

  • I changed from Chrome to Edge, which I am not used to, sure, some features are missing, but what is a browser for? It’s for getting information.

Magic happens

  • As a result, without social apps, without Chrome, for the last a few weeks, I have spent drastically less time on my phone.
